Common problems in the use of silicone prototypes

Do you know the common problems in the use of silicone prototypes? Next, the Xiehe prototype processing factory will give you a brief introduction.

 1. What should I do if there are many bubbles in the mold silicone during the mold opening process?

This situation should be handled according to the conditions. Under the condition of a vacuum machine, the silica gel and curing agent should be stirred evenly before vacuuming. If there is no vacuum machine, the amount of curing agent added can be appropriately reduced for processing. For example, the ratio of the original silica gel to curing agent is 4%, and now it can be changed to 1%-2%. In this way, the silicone glue bonding time of the mold in the early stage will be slowed down, and the air in the mold will be slowly discharged to reduce air bubbles.

 2. What should I do if the silicone mold is unevenly cured after curing?

This phenomenon is caused by 1. The ratio of silica gel and curing agent is not accurate, and the weight is not as required; 2. After mixing silica gel and curing agent, the mixture is not carefully stirred evenly. This situation will cause the mold to be scrapped and should be avoided as much as possible.

3. What should I do if the silicone mold is sticky?

This situation occurs because the model (product model) has not been properly processed in the early stage, so the model must be processed before the mold is opened. If the surface of the model is rough or the mold is very complicated, it must be carefully Sand smooth and clean. Then apply the release agent evenly. Commonly used release agents include petroleum jelly, detergent, liquid paraffin, etc. In actual operation, different mold release agents can be applied according to the material of the model. The second is that the curing agent is not evenly stirred and then poured into the mold. When it is taken off, one piece is dry and one piece is not dry.

4. What should I do if the silicone mold product is deformed?

This should be handled separately according to the size of the product. In principle, the size of the product is proportional to the hardness of the silica gel used. For small products or very fine products, you can use very soft silicone to open the mold. The hardness is generally 10-20 degrees, which will facilitate mold release and will not damage the lines of fine products. For large products, such as products larger than 50 cm, it is necessary to use silicone with a hardness of 40-50 to open the mold, so as not to deform. If you make a large and fine product, you can use silica gel with a hardness of about 30 degrees to open the mold (the method is to brush a layer of silica gel and cover a layer of glass fiber cloth and then brush a layer of silica gel...), the outside can be used Gypsum and fiberglass (that is, unsaturated resin + glass fiber cloth) are used as the outer film to protect the product from deformation.

5. The production of the outer mold

Generally, the method and material used are to surround the mold with plastic boards or wooden boards, and fill the mold cabinet with gypsum. Another way is to use resin brushing. After brushing a layer of resin, paste a layer of glass fiber cloth, and then paint and paste. Repeat two or three layers to complete the outer mold of the mold.

6. How to distinguish true and false silicone oil?

(1) Observe with eyes: fake silicone oil will be turbid, smell relatively strong, and have a bad smell;

(2) Test with fire: use a glass rod or iron rod dipped in a small amount of silicone oil to ignite, and the one that can ignite and emit black smoke is white mineral oil, because white mineral oil is a petrochemical product. Pure silicone oil is non-flammable, odorless, clear and non-toxic. The ignition point of silicone oil is 320 degrees, and the ignition point of white mineral oil is 100 degrees.

(3) Freezing point test method: Use 100 grams of pure silicone oil and 100 grams of white mineral oil, put them in the refrigerator at the same time, and adjust to -5-10 degrees at the same time. After two hours of experimentation, the fake silicone oil will appear cloudy or frozen. The real silicone oil is clear and transparent, and it will not freeze even at -50 degrees.

7. Fragmentation mold or sheet mold operation method:

Apply the vacuumed silica gel to the construction by brushing or pouring. If you are making sheet molds or split molds and use brushing, first apply a layer of release agent or spacer to the product or model you want to copy before painting, and then paint the silicone on the product ( Note: it must be uniform) After waiting for 30 minutes, paste a layer of gauze or glass fiber weft cloth on the surface to increase the strength, and then apply the second layer of silica gel and other silica gel to dry, and then make the outer mold. The outer mold can be made of plaster or materials such as resin.

8. The operation method of pouring mold or pouring mold:

Filling mold or pouring mold is used for relatively smooth or simple products. There is no mold line to save labor and time. It is to surround the product or model you want to copy with a plastic sheet or glass plate, and put the vacuumed silica gel Pour directly on the product, after the silica gel is dry and formed, take out the product, and the mold will be formed (Note: The perfusion mold is generally made of softer silica gel, so that it is easier to demould and will not damage the product in the silicone mold) .
